Grade Advantages

Grapes "Radiant" has both positive characteristics and minor disadvantages that should be considered when growing. The benefits of the variety include the following:

  • high yield of varieties;
  • good frost resistance - up to -23 ° С;
  • resistance to defeat mildew and oidium of the order of 3-4 points;
  • lack of seeds;
  • the possibility of arched formations.

The disadvantage is the need for preventive treatments in the spring. It is worth remembering that the abundance of the crop can provoke breakage of branches. By the way, the yield of grape varieties "Radiant" is from 130 to 150 kg / ha.

Landing rules

For this variety, it is necessary to observe when planting the distance between plants in a row of 2.5 m and in an aisle of 3 m.

The technology for planting seedlings of grape varieties "Radiant" is as follows:

  • planting can be carried out both in the spring and in the fall (spring planting lasts from late April to mid-May, and in autumn plants can be planted starting in October);
  • the size of the planting pits may vary depending on the diameter of the root system of the seedling;
  • when planting, it is imperative to install a wooden or metal support for fixing the bush;
  • immediately after planting, abundant watering should be carried out in the amount of about one and a half buckets of water.

Planting on a site with enriched soil greatly facilitates the subsequent care of the grapes and helps to reduce the time of adaptation of the plant.

Care Features

The grape variety “Radiant” is demanding enough to conduct competent and timely care measures. It must be remembered that the plant needs preparation for the winter period: mulching the soil and equipping the shelter.

Irrigation measures should be carried out regularly and be relatively moderate. The volume of water used for irrigation depends entirely on the type of soil on which the vineyard is cultivated. On chernozems, about five buckets of water should be used to irrigate each plant. In the presence of sandy soil, the volume of water for irrigation is about nine buckets.

About ten days before the harvest, irrigation measures should be discontinued. When growing grape raisins, it is recommended to use drip irrigation systems.

Top dressing

To increase the amount of green mass in the spring, nitrogen-containing preparations should be applied under the vineyard. Recommended for top dressing. Plantofol. The annual application of potassium monophosphates, sulfates and magnesium sulfate has a beneficial effect on productivity. The main fertilizer should be carried out before flowering. Overfeeding of vineyards with fertilizers helps to delay flowering and inferior formation of ovaries.

Grapes should be formed so that for every square meter of the area there are no more than ten well-formed shoots. The total load on young plants should be about ten shoots. For adult plants, you can leave twenty shoots. The distance between adjacent arms should be about one meter.

Optimal for growing grapes of this variety is to perform long pruning for ten eyes. Proper pruning will allow you to get a well-formed brush and a couple of large clusters for each shoot. Exceeding such indicators threatens with crushing berries and reducing their quality characteristics. When the plant is overloaded, a delay in the ripening period of the crop is often observed.

Diseases and Pests

Insufficient resistance of the variety to damage by the main diseases for grapes requires prophylactic spraying with copper-based preparations or with Nitrophos in accordance with the attached instructions. Conducting protective measures should be timed to spring fertilizer application.

How to prepare and store grape cuttings

The presence of minor flaws does not detract from all the advantages of the “Radiant” variety. However, some features do not allow the cultivation of such grapes in regions with difficult climatic conditions. It is not recommended to grow “Radiant” grapes for beginner gardeners, which is due to the specifics of plant care measures.
